A Family Legacy, Reimagined by the Water

THE POOL HOUSE

A Pool of Light, A Play of Shadow

Rooted in a legacy of life by the water, this urban family home places the pool at the centre of daily life. The gentle movement of water reflects across textured surfaces, blurring the line between inside and out, linking generations past and future.

While honouring the soul of the original c.1910 Federation house, the new addition embraces a quiet duality: old and new, fluid and grounded, heritage and modernity in one conversation.

A courtyard-style extension animates the home, with glazed façades drawing the pool inward and extending the living space outward. Above, a wraparound balcony and vertical screens define the parents’ retreat, forming a double-height external void. Anchored by a central fireplace, this volume connects both levels, encouraging interaction and offering moments of retreat.

In a respectful response to the original c.1910 Federation residence, the home has evolved to accommodate five-bedrooms, three-bathrooms, two distinct living zones, a sunlit pool, carport, and private wine cellar, each element integrated with care.

Sweeping Harbour Bridge views and a west facing rear yard are articulated by pivoting screens and minimalist skylights, managing light and heat with refined simplicity.

DUO continues its dialogue between Federation charm and contemporary minimalism, where light, shadow, and texture reinterpret heritage for modern family living.
